Yekaterinburg Opera House is among the oldest ones in Russia. Its first season began in 1912. Soon the theatre became famous and confident owing to the rich traditions of frequent non-repertory theatres and city music coteries known since the mid-XIX century.
The Opera and Ballet Theatre was nicknamed “laboratory of the soviet opera”, and often the stamp “the right of the first stage version belongs to the theatre” could be seen on the playbills of the theatre. At all times, outstanding masters have been and are still working here. Yekaterinburg stage was the starting point in the career of the famous Bolshoy Theatre opera singers – I. Kozlovsky, S. Lemeshev, I. Arkhipova… The theatre treasures its best traditions.

The modern musical life of Yekaterinburg is in many ways determined by the Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra, the main group of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Society, which was named the best Philharmonic Society in Russia. Within its framework are the annual music festivals held with participation of the best Russian and foreign performers. Cultural relations of the Philharmonic Society are literally global.

Sverdlovsk state academic theatre of musical comedy was founded in 1933. Since then it has become a unique cultural asset of Sverdlovsk region and of the Urals, and became part of the golden repertoire of Russian culture.
Today, an efficient ensemble works in the theatre. Besides, the theatre has a professional ballet troupe, a big chorus, a grand symphonic orchestra and an ensemble of folk instruments. The theatre comprises a vocal and choreographic studio – the awardee of the International Festival. The studio fosterlings appear on stage and take part in performances for children and adults. The repertoire of the Yekaterinburg Musical Comedy Theatre comprises a wide range of classical operettas.

The Chamber Theatre of the United Museum of the Ural Writers has its own, completely unusual history of ideological origin, architectural elaboration, construction and creative formation.
The official date of theatre opening is December 15, 1998. The theatre can accommodate 150 spectators, and there is an orchestra box. The theatergoers will be pleased with the performance of the chamber orchestra "B-A-C-H" and a classic-chorus “Aurora”.
